I adored my Brandy Girl and she taught me so much but she was a hard horse in many ways, worming and feet care or any kind of meds to be taken could and did lead to crazy melt downs on her part..
I am beyond grateful that my current herd of Bojangles and Caleb are easy tempermented steady geldings.. It just makes life so much easier in so many ways.
Today I headed out with my pockets filled with wormer and a few treats and one lead rope, I did not even need halters and I could have gone without the lead but it is winter, coldish and snowing so I wanted to do it a touch faster then it would have been i did it total free style.
So I walked up and threw the rope over Caleb, no need to tie it.. that’s all that’s needed, he is caught lol.. he lifted his lip when he realized what was coming and then took his doze like a champ and then gave me the look as he licked away, because he could smell the carrot in my pocket as his good boy reward lol
Bojangles watched this with both interest and that slight o no. I think I am next look.. haha.. now sometimes he will move off to the tree line and give me bum, which is his way of saying.. no thank you very much.. but he stayed in place and as i walked around, he let me fip the rope over him, clip it and do a wrap around the feeder, he could pull it and it would let go.. but instead he softened, lowered his head even more and with my hand on his nose, came towards and went.. just do it! lol
In it went and all done.. opps. one more pat and carrot reward needed.. and I redid the gates and headed to the house, meet hubby on the pathway and said.. so easy, such good boys..
I am reminded once again how much I like steady minded Geldings.
